About Me
I earned my Ph.D. in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Prior to starting private practice, I served as a clinical psychologist at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at VCU in the Healthy Lifestyles Center where I specialized in the treatment of the full spectrum of eating and weight related problems (overweight, obesity, eating disorders) and adjustment to chronic medical conditions, particularly diabetes and other metabolic disorders. For over 15 years, I have worked with my research colleagues at VCU to develop, implement and evaluate eating disorder and obesity prevention and treatment approaches for parents, children, adolescents, college students, and in school settings.
I enjoy supervision and training mental health providers and professionals who work with children on evidence based strategies to improve eating and weight-related attitudes and behaviors. Additionally, I have provided trainings focused on positive behavior management and promotion of healthy eating in school settings. I continue to stay engaged with professional organizations and participate in trainings to stay up-to-date on best practices. I have presented my work nationally and internationally.
When I’m not working, I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time with my family and community.
